WE WILL SEARCH FOR FLATS, HOSTELS, AND STUDIOS NEAR YOUR UNIVERSITY FOR YOU.
Unfortunately, very few Georgian universities have dormitories for international students. One of the most common accommodation options is a hostel. In case of living in a hostel, students have to sign an annual contract, which obliges them to follow certain rules. For example, not making noise, keeping their area clean, registering all visitors to the hostel and tolerating the fellow residents.
Usually, hostel rooms come furnished with beds, mattresses, pillows and blankets, two side tables, one cupboard per room and one table and chair per room. All rooms are centrally heated. Hot water is available for only certain hours. A plumber, carpenter and an electrician are available on call.
The main advantage of living in a hostel is guaranteed safety. The hostels have their safety plan, security and its gate usually closes at 11:00. Admission to the hostel is competitive though, as it’s based on the “first come, first serve” principle.
We do not find accommodation below $400 in Tbilisi for International Students. When searching for flats for our students we prioritize safety and proximity to their University. And the kinds of flats with the safety features we look out for for our students usually cost from $400USD upwards if it’s a one bedroom flat. For two bedroom flat, the rent costs from $500 upwards.
Maybe you have read from some “advisers (students, your friends, agents, bloggers)” that it’s possible to rent apartments in Georgia for ridiculously low prices. The most important question to ask them is “are the very cheap accommodations safe and conducive for living all year round?”.
If you are a students that can not afford to pay $400USD rent fee alone, We highly recommend that you pair up with another student to rent a two bedroom flat for $500-$700. Each of you can take a bedroom and split the rent cost and utility bills (i.e $250 – $350 per flatmate). It is way better than living in an unsafe flat alone for $300 or less. Also, it is better for a student to share a safe one bedroom apartment with another student (i.e $200 per roommate in a $400USD one bedroom flat) than to live alone in a very cheap unsafe flat.
